Carlos Zibel uses colors and gestures to create vigorous, dream-like, abstract paintings that combine the shapes of natural and artificial landscapes. Zibel has a Master's Degree, a Doctorate and Post-Doc in Architecture and Urbanism from the University of Sao Paulo. He was the curator of contemporary art at the International Biennial of Architecture in São Paulo in 2009. Zibel coordinates the DeVIR Research Group (Design, Virtuality, Interaction and Networks, Environment and Interfaces, and he was former scientific advisor at Cambridge University Press. He is the author of Beyond Shapes: Introduction to contemporary thinking in design, the arts and architecture (Annablume) and various articles and essays on design and architecture. Recent exhibits include MAC Lima - Parc’17, Duo Art Gallery - Miami, Fundação Bienal of São Paulo, MUBE (Brazilian Museum of Sculpture, Sao Paulo), Pinacoteca Benedito Calixto, MAC- USP (Museum of Contemporary Art, University of Sao Paulo), MACC and Art Lab Gallery.
